Help Us
The Foundation is excited to share our current fundraising appeal. Our goal for 2025 is to raise £150,000 to transform the Girls’ School’s sixth form outdoor and rooftop spaces.
What’s at stake
The current outdoor space for 6th form students at the Girls’ School is not fit for purpose. Their games area is cramped and ugly with little privacy from traffic noise and disturbances from the public pavement, all which has made the girls feel uncomfortable and reluctant to spend time there. As one student commented recently, “It’s horrifying and depressing.” We know our students deserve better.

Our vision
The future vision is dynamic and brilliant, transforming the outdoor and rooftop spaces into vibrant, sustainable gardens. These revitalised areas will provide much-needed respite from academic and personal pressures, while also serving as a live learning environment for sustainability and green future initiatives. The Foundation’s strategic focus is to provide an education that enriches our students beyond the curriculum and the environment that inhabit every day is central to this.

The evidence
High quality outdoor space is crucial to the physical and mental wellbeing of young people. A growing body of evidence suggests exposure to green space has a variety of positive impacts on young people’s health, including enhanced mental health and resilience and reduced risk of obesity. Yet it’s beyond the reach of many state schools. A 2024 Guardian investigation found that students at top UK private schools have 10 times more green space than state pupils. Working together, we can make sure the Girls’ School rises above this statistic.

Student consultation
The Girls’ School students have been fully engaged in the consultation, volunteering their time in collaborating with the architects and design team to reimagine their space.
The result? Sensitive planting, thoughtful use of space and an arresting tiled courtyard inspired by the traditional Persian rugs many of the girls have at home. This dazzling celebration of culture and heritage is testament to their passion and investment in the project. In the words of a student taking part, “More students will spend time in the new area so it could help develop friendships and encourage us to meet new people.”

“It will be a nicer environment and people can comfortably be with their friends”
The hard work the current students have already shown is their legacy to the younger generations who will follow them.
We hope that you will join their dedication.
