Our governance structure

Central Foundation Schools of London is governed by a Board of Trustees. We generally have 18 trustees on our board.

Our governing document requires nominees (prospective trustees) for eight of our trustee positions to be appointed by various nominating organisations. All of these have a historic relationship with the Trust or with one of the two schools themselves.

The nominating bodies are the University of London, the Parochial Church Council of the parish of St Botolph without Bishopsgate, the Bank of England, the City Corporation, the London Chamber of Commerce & Industry, the Dulwich Estate, the Wardmote of the Ward of Bishopsgate. The serving Lord Mayor of London is a named patron.

The Foundation also appoints 10 co-optative trustees with relevant skills, knowledge and lived and learned experience. We’re delighted that these are often former pupils of the schools. It’s a wonderful full circle moment to have them take part in the future of the school that has played a role in developing, guiding and facilitating their future success.
